Lance helps at Liam J Perk Life Celebration

Lance and I had the privilege and honor of helping under the "Let's talk dog," tent. The Children were entrusted on the proper way of interacting with a canine. Each child that approached Lance and I were instructed to first ask the person holding the leash if they can pet the dog. The second step after getting approval was to offer the back of their hand to allow the dog to smell. The actual petting process was under the dogs chin while standing safely to the side of the dog. Lance did an outstanding job of assisting the children by turning his head away from them as they safely touched him on the front of his chest with soft gentle strokes. To find out more about Liam, his family and their commitment to children's safety visit their website at

Lance goes to the Library
South County patrons were enthralled as Bobbi Graves, Certified Dog trainer and Animal Behavior Specialist, shared her tips for a friendly and well trained dog.  Her companion , Lance, a beautiful , 2 year old golden retriever demonstrated the proper behavior that every canine would benefit from.  She also talked about the educational training it took to pursue this interesting career.  She explained the many areas that need working dogs such as for the autistic, and seeing eye dogs.  Lance and his trainer were on their way to Tampa to work with Vets who had lost mobility from their time in Afghanistan.
